These are links to friend's websites, local stores and services, and places to visit while traveling to the Arctic Circle.

  • Kattilakoski Krog A beautiful restaurant overlooking the Torne River, about 4km south of Juoksengi. Enjoy gourmet dining in the summer months and a julbord in December.

  • Arctikus TV Juoksengi's local cable network and Internet Service Provider. The website provides local information to residents of Juoksengi and many of the surrounding villages.

  • Niska.se The Niska's are good friends of the Taavo family. This is the Niska Family's personal website.

  • Holiday Village Owned by some good friends, this is a great camping spot in Övertorneå where you can rent rooms, order food, ride snowmobiles, go snow shoeing or cross-country skiing, and more.

  • Lovbiten Pizzeria A great place to eat, drink, and hang out with friends. Located in downtown Övertorneå. Try the kebab pizza!

  • Nybergs Radio & TV Nybergs in Övertorneå is the place to buy electronics and appliances.

  • Dränglängan Dränglängan is a cool place to visit in Svanstein. It is a collection of old buildings housing an antique shop, a conference room and saunas, hand carved art, and more.

  • TK Data The local computer store in Övertorneå.

  • Forest Land Forest Land provides multiple nature experiences such as hunting, fishing, camping and hiking for big and small groups.

  • Arctic Experience Arctic Circle Experience specializes in educational adventure and is situated in Övertorneå at the Arctic Circle, in Swedish Lapland.

  • Sten Cafe Wonderful hand made stone jewelry. Many made from stones found locally. A great place to stop for coffee, cakes, roast reindeer sandwiches, ice cream, and sweets.

  • Tornedalia Hotel A very nice grand hotel right here in Övertorneå, the heart of Arctic Lapland.

  • Dessan's Cafe & Lodge Located just north of Juoksengi in Pello, in what once was the customs office between Sweden and Finland, is now a nice little cafe with a couple rooms for rent.

Villages, Towns, and other Interesting Locals

Juoksengi just happens to be right on the Arctic Circle, so it gets lot of attention, but there are many small villages along the Torne River. Here are links to some of the places we've visited.

  • Juoksengi is the village where Jessica grew up. We visit her parents, Kalle & Kicki every year.

  • Övertorneå is the closest real town to Juoksengi. It is 24km south, on the Torne River.

  • Svanstein is another small town about 10km north of Juoksengi.

  • Hedenaset a nice little town just a few kilometers south of Övertorneå.
